Sip it Like “Crazy!” Flavor Your Day with Crazy Cups!

Good Sunday Morning to you, wherever you may be. Here in the Philadelphia suburbs, a cold front has swept through the region, bringing the return of frigid temperatures and intense wind gusts. Though, on a positive note, I do have something I’d love to share with all of you who might be reading: Crazy Cups! At this point, you might be wondering, what in the world is Crazy Cups? Well, given coffee is one of my favorite beverages to enjoy and one I look forward to each morning and throughout the day/evening, my recent discovery of Crazy Cups has significantly broadened and improved my coffee repertoire.

Since my last teens, I became truly vested in coffee, not only for the taste, aroma, and ability to add a bit of warmth to my day, but for the experience, noting all the vast methods and possibilities of brewing a cup of java. It intrigued me how unique each brewing process could be: everything from freshly grinding coffee beans, using a percolator, pour-over, or French Press, a traditional drip coffee-maker, instant packets, k-cups (or any single-cup brewer method), and beyond!

With that being said, I traditionally begin each morning with several small cups of caffeinated coffee, but starting the afternoon and through evening, will switch to decaffeinated blends, or occasionally will indulge a caffeinated variety. However, I often find it challenging to locate a flavored decaf coffee blend, one that is flavored in such a way that is reminiscent of dessert or something like that. With traditionally caffeinated coffee, it is relatively easy to find an abundance of flavors. Numerous months ago, my hopes were answered as I innocently perused the coffee section on Amazon.com, a favorite website of mine to shop for coffee. As I scanned through their offerings, I suddenly settled my eyes upon a brand I’d never heard of before: Crazy Cups! Their flavors and offerings appeared endless and shocking. Not only were their flavors decadent (picture: Frosted Oatmeal Cookie, Chocolate Coconut Dream, Caramel Truffle Sundae… just to name a few!), but they were available in DECAF varieties, much to my surprise and delight! No worries about their nutritional content, either, they are all calorie-free and naturally or artificially sweetened!

Early last month, I was presented with the unique opportunity to review Crazy Cups and within a few short days, I received a Crazy Cups box filled with a variety of K-cups, lattes, ciders, and hot chocolates! In addition, a bright orange baseball cap emblazoned with Crazy Cups also made it’s way into the box – their latest addition in their product offerings, now allowing me to sport my love of Crazy Cups while out and about!

  • Coffee: Caramel Pecan Cluster, Pumpkin Vanilla Creme, Italian Chocolate Cheesecake, Chocolate Coconut Dream, Coconut Bunny, Cinnamon Churro, Blackberry Meringue, Peppermint Chocolate Mocha, Hyper-Caffeinated Vanilla Blast-Flavored Bold Roast, Chocolate Covered Almonds and Chocolate Raspberry Truffle.

  • Lattes: Red Velvet Revolution, Green Matcha Madness Crazy Tea Latte
  • Creamy Cinnamon Chai Crazy Tea Latte

My Perspective:

  • Given the dedicated coffee fan I am, I chose to indulge in the coffees first. Without much question, I enjoyed all of them, however, there were quite a few standouts in my opinion. First off, Chocolate Coconut Dream stood out as my favorite. The flavor was the ideal combination of a creamy, decadent chocolate combined with the tropical hints of coconut, which complemented each other. The flavor, to me, was reminiscent of my childhood favorite candy – Tootsie Rolls! What a joy to have in a cup! The chocolate covered almonds was also a favorite decadence of mine for similar reasons; the creamy chocolate flavor was expertly accentuated with the nutty, aroma and taste of almonds. In addition, the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle reminded me of a chocolate-covered Swedish Fish candy and left my kitchen pleasantly scented with notes of chocolate and sweet raspberries.
  • Given my mom is a fan of hot chocolate, she gladly sampled several of the varieties and quickly determined the Frosted Cinnamon Bun was her favorite, reminding her of the Little Debbie Oatmeal Cream Pies we both loved. As far as lattes, Red Velvet Revolution was quickly recognized as a favorite of ours, with the smooth, creamy texture and rich, crimson color. It was a satisfying taste of Red Velvet creamy desserts in a cup.
  • The traditional Hot Apple Cider was also a favorite of ours, as it reminded and took me back to the days of wandering around the local farm in my area, taking in the haunted houses and enjoying the bonfires outside, while enjoying a cup of warm, comforting Hot Apple Cider. It was easy to note the sweet taste of fresh apples, accentuated with warm notes of cinnamon spice, nutmeg and other warm spices.

* Overall, it was an incredible experience leaving me so very grateful and enthused to have been given the chance by Crazy Cups to sample and review their various products! Their hospitality and generosity is very much appreciated and enjoyed. So, for a bit of flavor and excitement in your cup, as well, I encourage you to check out Crazy Cups and enjoy the kaleidoscope of flavors!

A “Sparkling” Sip!

Good Morning! A bit of time has passed since I last posted, but I’ve been keeping myself busy, trying my best to soak up the early days of summer and heal myself from the brief cold I acquired. Given the warmth and humidity lately, it’s been imperative for everyone to stay hydrated, not to mention, this time of year, I seem to crave a refreshing beverage! Thankfully, over the recent weeks, I became acquainted with a sparkling flavored water (plus other varieties!) that I absolutely love! Much to my delight, I was provided with the opportunity to sample four flavors (plus, I’ve purchased other varieties on my own!) and am here today to introduce you the beverage I’m referring to – SPARKLING ICE!

My Review:

As I mentioned, I was generously provided with 4 flavors of Sparkling Ice to sample and review! I was delighted when they arrived on my doorstep, given how refreshing I know them to be and eager to sample the flavors. First up on my sampling endeavor was…

  • Strawberry Lemonade Sparkling Water:

Sparkling Ice Strawberry Lemonade

My initial reaction to receiving and seeing this flavor was pure happiness and intrigue! For a number of years, I have been a dedicated fan of real strawberry lemonade, so I was overjoyed to see this flavor offered as a sparkling water, with absolutely no calories, PLUS, nourishing vitamins and sweet flavors! At first sip, I was greeted with a clean sweet flavor, lightly carbonated and bubbly, reminding me of the real strawberry lemonade with a less tart flavor. The familiar sweetness of the strawberry truly shined through and left me wanting more. I had to stop myself from enjoying the entire bottle in one sitting, wanting to savor every last bit! Definitely a winner, in my opinion!

  • Black Raspberry Sparkling Water:

Black Raspberry Sparkling Ice

Let me preface my reaction to this flavor by saying, since childhood, I’ve been a huge fan of the chewy raspberry-flavored candy, Swedish Fish, so this flavor of Sparkling Ice was right up my alley! At first sip, I was greeted with a sweet, familiar-tasting raspberry flavor, leaving me feeling as though I was enjoying my favorite chewy candy! It was both sweet and refreshing, again with the light carbonation I often crave (I confess, I am a big fan of Diet Soda, so the carbonation in Sparkling Ice is VERY appealing to me!). I like that with these sparkling waters, I am getting both the sweetness and carbonation I know and love, but in a much healthier manner (given the vitamins instilled in the beverages and the fact that it is sugar, carb and calorie-free!). Needless to say, I will definitely be enjoying this particular flavor in the near future!

  • Peach Lemonade:

Peach Lemonade Sparkling Ice

Generally, I am a big fan of lemonades, as I previously mentioned, so my expectations were high for this particular flavor and though it provided the sweetness and carbonation I like, it wasn’t my particular favorite. That said, it was still vastly palatable, but not a flavor I would first choose if given the option. Still, I was grateful for the opportunity to sample it. The peach flavor itself, though, tasted sweet and reminiscent of the actual fruit and was an ideal flavor for the summer, given it’s rampant appearance in stores and farmer’s markets throughout the country.

  • Raspberry Iced Tea Sparkling Ice:

Raspberry Iced Tea Sparkling Ice

The last flavor I was provided with was from Sparkling Ice’s newest line for 2015, Raspberry Iced Tea! I was curious and intrigued about this flavor and about the product line in general. At first sip, the flavor was unique and reminiscent of actual iced tea, but with the carbonation and sweetness Sparkling Ice is traditionally noted for. It was a light raspberry flavor that was refreshing and easy to sip on. It was a unique and different change from the traditional iced teas I’m used to and one I could definitely stand to enjoy again soon!

Old El Paso: A Homestyle Mexican Fiesta!

We’ve made it to Friday! I hope your week has been a pleasant one and that your weekend will be one filled with excitement, relaxation and enjoyment. Last night, I thought it would be fitting to treat my mom to a little homestyle “Mexican Fiesta!” However, it was more or less effortless since the popular General Mills brand, Old El Paso took care of the handiwork for us! Last month, on behalf of General Mills through the MyBlogSpark program, I was provided with the opportunity to sample an Old Paso Frozen Entree for Two variety of my choice! To say the least, I was very excited and eager to sample and select a variety. After the product coupon arrived, I made my way on over to my local Target to choose a flavor I thought my mom would enjoy, since she and I are both huge Mexican fans! After perusing the available varieties (i.e. Fajitas, Burritos, Enchiladas and Quesadillas in either Chicken or Beef), ultimately, I selected the Burritos, knowing they are a favorite of my mom’s.

Before I delve into my review and experience with the Old El Paso Frozen Entree for Two in the Chicken Burritos variety, I’d like to share some insider product information with you:

  • Old El Paso is a General Mills company providing consumers with a vast array of frozen entrees, such as those I detailed above, created and crafted by Chef Jonathan according to (wwww.oldelpaso.com), as well as shelf-stable burrito kits, hard and soft tacos with taco seasonings and sauce packets, in addition to stand ‘n stuff taco dinner kits which come complete with soft tortilla bowls, seasoning mix and taco sauce!
  • The Old El Paso website (www.oldelpaso.com) is brimming with not only product information, but also recipes and step by step guides to creating the ideal, authentic, restaurant-quality Mexican meal at home!
  • As a national company, Old El Paso maintains an active social media presence via Facebook (www.facebook.com/oldelpaso), Pinterest (pinterest.com/oldelpaso), Twitter (twitter.com/bettycrocker) & Instagram (instagram.com/oldelpaso). They encourage their customers and fans to post photos, thoughts and ideas to their social media pages, to foster a sense of community.

Now that you’re packed with knowledge in regards to the Old El Paso company and family, I’d like to share with you some specifics in regards to the Chicken Burritos my mom enjoyed last night!

Old El Paso Frozen Entree: Chicken Burritos Variety (enough for two individuals):

Image    Image

  1. What’s in it? These Chicken Burritos contain: (2) salsa verde, seasoned white chicken, rice, black beans, a blend of Colby and Monterey Jack cheeses, fire roasted corn and chopped cilantro in a flour tortilla.
  2. How is it prepared? It is a super simple preparation – simply place it in the microwave for 4-6 minutes (depending on your microwave) with the cellophane packaging on (the packaging directly indicates which side up when microwaving) After heating it up, it is now ready to instantly eat and enjoy!
  3. Nutrition: The Burritos contain 480 calories and 23 grams of protein, plus 6g of dietary fiber, as stated on the official packaging.

Thoughts on the Sampling Experience:

When my mom arrived home from work last night, I offered to prepare a Chicken Burrito for her. She happily agreed and I quickly retrieved a burrito from the box, read the directions and placed it into the microwave for 5 minutes (the packaging states 4-6 minutes in the microwave depending on the microwave), with the cellophane packaging on. After 5 minutes, I could smell the savory ingredients circulating through the kitchen and retrieved the soft burrito from the microwave. Soon, my mom was ready to dig in. In her words, the flour tortilla was packed with flavor and she liked how soft and pillowy it was. She also felt the size was decent and satisfying. However, she felt the tortillas were filled a little too generously with rice and beans, as opposed to chicken and cheese, which she would have liked more of. Therefore, to complement and round out the meal, I served her the burrito with a sweet potato on the side. Lastly, while my mom enjoys meals with savory flavor, in this particular situation, she felt the burritos were slightly on the spicy side, relatively too much for her taste. If the spiciness was toned down a bit, she felt it would be more enjoyable and to her liking.

Image

Overall, it was an easy and quick meal to prepare and serve. Asked if she would purchase it on her own, my mom stated she would, but perhaps she would try a different variety, such as the fajitas or quesadillas. If you’re looking for a quick and easy Mexican fix to eat at home, work, on the go, Old El Paso is the way to go! Give it a try and let me know what you think!

QUESTION: What are some of your favorite entrees? Have you ever tried an Old El Paso meal?

“Disclosure: The information and prize pack have been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.”
